Finally....

It's been a while..  3 years and some change to be exact.  The last time I did a blog post my oldest son Ethan had just turned one.  I had promised to post again the next day to show off the first hair cut.  That doesn't appear to have happened.  My bad.  I had good intentions I really did.  But the whirlwind of Life swept me off my feet.  Another sweet little boy, Caeden, was thrown into my mix and I've landed at the feet of 40 wondering where the time has gone.

As most people are when 40 is looming, I have been reflective.  And of course, I am reminded that there are a LOT of things that I haven't done that I said I was going to do. Doing a better job of blogging was one of them.  That promise was made a long time ago and is just rounding the bend  still only with the hopes of being kept.  But with the calendar roll to 2015 and the FANTASTIC 40 staring me in my face, all of a sudden I feel compelled to dust off some of those "shouldas", "couldas" and "wouldas" and see if I can make some things reality.

Enter this blog - Eight Sixes to 40. Blogging is one of those things I've been saying I'm going to do but hadn't done.  I have thought of blog posts and blog titles only to push it to the back burner of my mind and cry "too busy".  Eight Sixes to 40  is my first step in making the decision to do some things differently.  It's all apart of growing up, like the title -  Almost Grown. There is a maturation that is coming with the age of 40 and I am looking forward to it.

My 40th Birthday is August 6th, 2015.   If the Lord is willing and the creek don't rise (as the old southerners say), on the 6th day of every month for the next 8 months, I'm going to do something that I said I've wanted to do, need to do or  will do for someone else.  My plan is to post every month on the 6th day what I have done. I'll try to post in between time as well but definitely on the 6th. Baby steps. :-)

There will be Eight Sixes to my 40th birthday - hence the blog title. Care to take this journey with me?  I'm told Forty is when the real living starts.  I just want to be ready to hang with the adults because after all by then.. I'll be officially GROWN!

Until next time...
Marcia
